When the Answer is Not Yet

Friday was a really rough day for me. I had my hopes up for a promotion at work. Went in Friday morning knowing it was a good thing for me, and couldn’t be more excited about what God had in store for me. The prior two days, my boss had me in and out of his office going over scenarios of how the promotion could play out. I finally got to go into his office around 10:30 to hear the news. My director couldn’t offer me the job because HR kicked it back because I never received a bachelor’s degree.

My hopes were crushed. This was the pay raise I had been praying for, needing. What good could come from not getting the promotion? I still don’t know, of course, it was just yesterday. There is one thing I do know, and it’s what I want to encourage you with today.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

Even if we don’t understand the plans and purposes of God, we can know that our heavenly father has our best interest in mind. God knows my heart and he knows my needs. I have to know that if he takes care of a sparrow, he will take care of me. A blessing delayed is not a blessing denied.Delayed

So what are we to do when things don’t go as planned? Well, it’s a choice we have to make. We can shut down and fall apart, I won’t lie, it crossed my mind; or we can choose to believe the word of God. He loves us, and he hates to see us sad and disappointed but God will work out all things for our God because we are “the called”.

I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am “the called” I know that God has much bigger plans for me, bigger than a job. Be encouraged, if you are a child of God, he has big plans for you. A not yet is not “no”, learn to rely on God.

Comments are always solicited and appreciated! If this has encouraged you or you know someone who it may encourage, feel free to share. As always, would love to have you follow this blog, and by the way, speaking of following – follow me on Twitter.
